The Class of 2026 Hobbies and Sports

I am in the middle of senior picture season and I have to say this years seniors are talented beyond belief! From vintage fashion to music, the class of 2026 has an array of hobbies, interests and sports that they play. So just for fun, here are some random sports you might not know existed (and yes they are real!)

1. Cheese Rolling (England)
Each spring, thrill-seekers gather atop Cooper’s Hill to chase a wheel of cheese down a steep, muddy slope. The first person to cross the finish line at the bottom—regardless of scrapes and tumbles—wins the cheese. It’s wild, messy, and hilariously unpredictable.

2. Sepak Takraw (Southeast Asia)
Imagine volleyball, but players use everything except their hands. Teams volley a rattan ball over a net using their feet, knees, chest, and head. The acrobatics and skill on display are jaw-dropping.

3. Extreme Ironing (Worldwide)
Why iron indoors when you can do it while skydiving, rock climbing, or canoeing? Extreme ironing enthusiasts press shirts in the most outrageous locations, turning a household chore into a global sensation.

4. Wife Carrying (Finland)
Contestants race through obstacle courses while carrying their partners on their backs. The prize? The wife’s weight in beer! This quirky Finnish tradition has inspired similar events worldwide.

5. Bo-Taoshi (Japan)
A chaotic blend of rugby, capture the flag, and raw mayhem, Bo-Taoshi pits two teams of 150 players against each other in an all-out battle to tip a giant pole. Organized chaos!

Here in Northern Colorado you might think more along the lines of golf, basketball, or dance but the world has a lot of outrageous and interesting sports. So cheers to my talented seniors and their amazing sessions!
